The Daisy Story Project Event will serve as an art gallery to showcase loca artists' illustrations of domestic abuse experienced by 1 in 3 women in Canada in their lifetime. The Event will be held on October 13th, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the Rotary Centre for the Arts in the South Atrium. Your ticket price will include one glass of wine, hors d’oeuvres and non-alcoholic beverages provided by The Two Brothers Mexican Restaurant in West Kelowna and Casa De Frida Mexican Restaurant in Kelowna!
The Kelowna Women’s Shelter has been compiling anonymous stories from women and children about their domestic abuse experiences over the last two years. We distributed these anonymous stories to local artists to review and depict with artisticillustration. The event will also feature a children's art section; with art created by the children living in our Transition House.
The event will bring to light the shocking prevalence of domestic abuse and serve as a promising platform to further engage the Kelowna Women’s Shelter with community members, business leaders, local artists, and other charitable organizations.
Further, it will feature various local artists and their artwork inspired by their assigned stories, hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, and an excellent opportunity to network with philanthropic-minded community-minded leaders while enjoying Kelowna’s visual and performing arts centre located in the heart of Kelowna’s Cultural District.
